Hello ladies!

For people that don't know me my name is Naomi Phillips. Up until the 6th of May this year I was known as Naomi Ball but now with great pleasure I can call myself Naomi Phillips!

Well doesn't time fly?! Nearly a year has gone since I was organising last years "Girls Night In". The Girls Night In is a fundraising event run every year by the Cancer Council raising money to help with the research of women's cancers. It is run throughout the month of October and can be anything from a movie night with popcorn to a scrapbooking afternoon with friends to an afternoon tea and bake sale to painting your friends nails! Possibilties are endless on how you'd like to spend your day in! So instead of going out and spending money, one day or night you stay in with friends and donate the money you would have otherwise spent by going out.

2009 was my first year of holding this event. The theme was dress pink! It was an afternoon of savoury and sweet food which was helped by everyone bringing a plate. We had a Tupperware Party and instead of a hostess gift the money value was dontated to the Cancer Council. We also had a door prize and everyone bought lots of lose change for heaps of raffles and games. We raised just over $800.00 in 2009.

2010 again was wear something pink. This time it was a $10 entry fee and that covered all cold drinks, champange, hot drinks, nibbles,  a sit down chicken and salad lunch and desserts. Lots of games and raffles were played with heaps of fantastic prizes! Again i'd like to mention and Thank Curly Sue's Wigs & Hairpieces, Civic Video, Med Halal @ Honeywell Meats, Mrs Macs, Fasta Pasta, Paula from Delish Lights and Carpet Choice for the money, vouchers and prizes that were donated. A few of the games were Guess the number of jelly beans, Guess the number of m&m's, Guess the 2 end digits of a $20 and $50 note, Bingo, Tombola, Guess the weight of the fruit and veggie hamper and plenty more. We raised just over $1200 in 2010.

So this year i'm hoping for $1500, but when I registered I said my aim was $2000 so with abit of luck i'm hoping to reach it. I'm still in the early stages of organising it, but a date and time has been set and invitations are now being printed. My theme this year is an Old Fashioned High Tea with plenty of games, many with weird and wonderful different ideas! I'm sending out my letter next week to business' asking for there support, so will hopefully be hearing from them soon. I have already got comfirmation from Curly Sue's Wigs & Hairpieces, Civic Video and Di from Avon that they will be supporting this event again this year. I also put an ad out on a few facebook sites for donations of soft toys for a couple of the games and was overwhelmed by the support and generosity of strangers! It is so fantastic to see so many people helping out this great cause. THANKS!!

Also a Thank you to Matthew for building me this website. Still at the beginning stages of it so stayed tuned for more updates and pictures and stuff! The perks of having a software developer as a husband!!

You can follow the Girls Night In on facebook, but make sure to keep on eye out on this page for all my new posts as October is slowly creeping up and things are starting to get exciting!!

See you soon!
Naomi
